Union County moves forward with 800k SRS Election and title allocations

UNION COUNTY – During a regular meeting Wednesday, July 1st, the Union County Board of Commissioners voted to elect Secure Rural Schools (SRS) payments for the county, and move forward with the title allocation submission for Title I, II, and III funding. In total, the county is eligible to receive $802,203 dollars in SRS funding for fiscal year 2026-2027.

For the Title fundings, the commissioners also approved an allocation of 85% for Title I (funding roads and schools) 8% for Title II (funding special projects on federal lands) and 7% (Funding wildfire protection projects, search and rescue activities, broadband access, and other emergency services).

Union County was also eligible to receive 25% of the 7-year rolling average of timber receipts, though this would have only allocated an estimated $144,359 compared to SRS funds.
