UNION COUNTY – As Veteran’s Day approaches, and Operation Green Light for Veterans nears its end, Union County would like to remind residents that spare green lights are available for anyone wishing to participate. Operation Green Light for Veterans is a national initiative meant to show support for military veterans, particularly during their potentially difficult transition back to civilian life.
Participation simply involves illuminating buildings and windows with green lights. Even changing a single bulb to green can send a powerful message of solidarity.
Union County officially began participating with the passing of Resolution 2024-13 on October 17, illuminating various county buildings green through November 11, 2024. For those interested in joining Operation Green Light leading up to Veterans Day, Union County still has some green light bulbs available for residents. Lights can be picked up at the Union County Administrative Office at 1106 K Avenue in La Grande during regular business hours or at the Center for Human Development at 2301 Cove Ave in La Grande.
The Center for Human Development also has lights avalible to residents at 2301 Cove Ave, La Grande. Lights can be picked up at the front desk.
