Union County Emergency Manager honored as OEMA 2024 Public Sector Emergency Management Professional of the Year

UNION COUNTY – Union County Emergency Manager Nick Vora has been honored as OEMA 2024 Public Sector Emergency Management Professional of the Year from the Oregon Emergency Management Association.

While Vora couldn’t attend the event in person to accept the award, when asked to comment on being honored in this way, Vora had this to say, “Being recognized by the Oregon Emergency Management Association as the OEMA 2024 Public Sector Emergency Management Professional of the Year. is an incredible honor to receive from my peers. Emergency management is all about coming together and working as a team to solve problems and serve our communities, and I wouldn’t even be here were it not for the people and partner agencies in Union County and across the state who have mentored, taught, and encouraged me in this field. This summer I was given the opportunity to try to start to repay the favors and efforts of others I’ve benefitted from and help our neighboring counties.

I’m incredibly grateful for our county administration, Commissioners, and Sheriff, who made my support of our neighbors in a time of need possible. I had the pleasure of working with and learning from some incredible people this summer, all of who rose to some very formidable occasions and accomplished amazing things during some very dynamic wildfire emergencies. Every day I learn something new from the amazing partners I work with across the state, and I am very touched and appreciative to be honored by them with this award and kind words of nomination.”
