Umatilla County updates evacuation levels as wildfire crews battle Hagen Fire

UMATILLA COUNTY — Emergency officials updated evacuation levels Monday afternoon as fire crews struggle with shifting conditions on the Hagen Fire in Umatilla County, urging residents in remote areas to remain on high alert and leave immediately if they feel unsafe.

The updated warnings were issued jointly by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, the county Emergency Operation Center, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR), and Northwest Incident Management Team 7.

Under the new orders, a mandatory Level 3 (“GO NOW!”) evacuation is in effect along Bingham Road from milepost 20 to the 32 Road, covering a 6.6-mile stretch that includes the Umatilla River Corridor and Hagen Creek. Residents in these zones must leave without delay.

Meanwhile, a Level 1 (“BE READY”) warning covers areas west of Meacham Creek extending roughly five miles south of Bingham Road, as well as north of Pine Creek to Highway 204.

Officials warned that steep, rugged terrain creates significant communication and access barriers, making rapid fire growth particularly dangerous.

“Do not wait for an official evacuation order if you feel unsafe or see immediate danger,” county emergency managers stated, urging residents to monitor local fire activity proactively.
