HERMISTON – The Umatilla County Fair opens its gates today (Wednesday) at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center in Hermiston. Sheriff Terry Rowan says that even though the fair means more work for him and his deputies, he loves it.
“I enjoy it all, from the kids being there with their animals and the aromas from that and the various food booths,” he said. “You know, seeing people having fun, that’s what I enjoy.”
The gates open at 10 a.m. at EOTEC, and the first day of the Farm City Pro Rodeo is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. Warren Zeiders will take the stage at 9 p.m. Sandwiched in between the opening and the concert are a number of activities including a food preparation contest and small animal judging.
The city of Hermiston is sponsoring Wednesday as Children’s Day at the fair. Anyone 10 and younger is admitted free during the entire fair, with a different sponsor each day. More information is at https://www.umatillacountyfair.net/.
