UHS robotics team is heading to Portland for regional

UMATILLA – 4125 Confidential, a robotics team from Umatilla High School is competing at the Pacific Northwest District Championships in Portland through April 6. The could win a shot at the World Finals during the competition.

The team automatically qualified for the regional tournament at its first competition in early March in Salem by winning the Impact Award. That prize is given to a team that serves as an inspiration, advocates for diversity and inclusion, and makes a difference in their community. The team received the Impact Award in 2023 as well. Team members are required to write essays and prepare a presentation to give to a panel of judges.

“I’m really proud of the kids,” Robotics Mentor Kyle Sipe said. “They were super excited and it was fun to see their hard work pay off.”
