PENDLETON – There’s a new deputy in Umatilla County. Sheriff Terry Rowan says that Breanna Hedrick is a six-year veteran from the Albany Police Department.
“She’s already started her local training with one of our other deputies and from my understanding, she’s picking up everything really quickly,” Rowan said.
Rowan said it’s not often that a law enforcement agency can hire someone who is already certified.
“I think we were very fortunate that we were able to hire a certified officer, versus the need to go through this long training phase that typically goes along with a new hire,” he said.
To obtain certification in Oregon, a person must pass a 16-week training course at the police academy.
