UMATILLA COUNTY – The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners has approved leasing eight new police vehicles for the sheriff’s office. Board Chairman John Shafer said the sheriff’s office was lucky to get the vehicles in light of supply chain slowdowns.

“One agency had already had the vehicles built and then they decided not to go with the vehicles,” he said. “We’re still waiting on vehicles that we ordered back in November and these are available now.”

The lease agreement is with Bancorp and Enterprise Rental Services. The county will be spending $127,549 per year for four years.

Also at its Wednesday meeting, the county approved an expansion to the Hermiston Enterprise Zone and accepted both the Umatilla River Trail Concept Plan and the Blue Mountain Region Trail Plan to the county’s master transportation plan.
