St. Anthony Hospital went on lockdown last week, which is a normal procedure when the hospital is dealing with a victim of violence. The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office has an active investigation underway in this case and released the following today (Tuesday):

On Friday, January 6th, 2023, at approximately 04:14 am, a UCSO deputy responded to St. Anthony Hospital for a report of a 35-year-old male (from Pendleton) that had come into the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the arm. The hospital had been locked down per their internal protocol.

The victim was Life-Flighted to OHSU, where he underwent surgery, resulting in a partial amputation of his right arm.  UCSO detectives continue to actively investigate the incident.

A person of interest has been identified and at this point in the investigation UCSO investigators do not believe there is any threat to the general public’s safety.
