UMATILLA COUNTY โ€“ There was a time when people couldnโ€™t get a concealed handgun license from Umatilla County and it had nothing to do with Oregonโ€™s new gun control law which is being challenged in both federal and state courts.

โ€œIt was because the printer that prints those cards went down,โ€ Sheriff Terry Rowan said. โ€œIt took an extended amount of time to get a replacement in.โ€

The replacement is now operating.

The application form for a concealed license is on the Umatilla County Sheriffโ€™s Office website. Handgun safety training is required and the eligibility requirements are listed at https://www.co.umatilla.or.us/sheriff/departments/sheriff/civil-1.

After filling out the form and paying the applicable fees, an appointment is scheduled. At that appointment, the applicant is photographed and fingerprinted.
