MILTON-FREEWATER – Umatilla County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Scott attempted to stop a careless driver on Steen Road. When the driver refused to yield a pursuit began. It ended in the arrest of Dawson Myrick, 24, of Milton-Freewater who is now facing several charges in separate incidents.
Scott pursued the vehicle at high speeds into Milton-Freewater where that city’s police joined the action.
“The driver of the Toyota Camry eventually got the vehicle stuck while attempting to drive through an orchard near Locust Road and We4is Road,” Capt. Sterrin Ward reported. “Myrick was taken into custody and lodged at Umatilla County Jail.”
The sheriff’s office had two other cases from Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 of last year in which Myrick is listed as the suspect. Those cases have been referred to the Umatilla County District Attorney’s Office and he was indicted for them on Oct. 26.
In addition to that ongoing case, the Pendleton Police Department had a probable cause warrant for Myrick’s arrest on charges stemming from a pursuit in July. That warrant was served on him while he was in custody at the jail.
Myrick is charged with a total of three counts of felony attempt to elude/flee. He also faces misdemeanor charges of reckless driving times two and third-degree escape.
