HERMISTON – The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office has lodged Joshua Shawn Cummins, 25, in Umatilla County Jail. The arrest occurred Monday with the first complaint coming in on Sunday.
UCSO Criminal Division Captain Paul Wolverton says that the suspect threw rocks through business windows on North Highway 395, but he didn’t stop there. Of the five businesses damaged, three were car dealers and vehicles on their lots also had their windows damaged. Wolverton said Cummins also kicked some windows to break them.
The investigation into the property damage is continuing. At last report, Cummins was facing at least 10 counts of felony first-degree criminal mischief as well as several misdemeanor charges. His bail is set at $20,000.
Wolverton said Cummins told the arresting deputy he was “drunk and didn’t know what was going on.”
