UMATILLA COUNTY – (News release from the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office) On January 11, 2025 at about 2:00am, UCSO received 911 calls of shots being fired at a residence in the area of Bridge Road and Westland Road. Deputies responded and collected evidence, which included spent ammunition casings. Later, at about 3:30am, the dispatch center received calls of additional shots fired in the same area of Bridge Road and Westland Road. Callers described a white sedan heading away from the area toward Powerline Road. A Umatilla PD officer working on Powerline Road encountered the suspect vehicle. The vehicle stopped at a house in Umatilla, and three people exited and went inside the house. After a short time, one person exited the home and was detained.
A perimeter was set up on the home and UCSO detectives were called to the scene. No one was injured. Through the investigation they were able to link the car and the suspects to the shootings. Detectives obtained a search warrant for the suspect vehicle and house, which was served at about 3:00pm. Prior to serving the search warrant, the two remaining persons exited the house and were also detained.
The search of the suspect vehicle and the house yielded several firearms, and ammunition. 18-year-old Alexis Aguilar of Umatilla, 19-year-old Abraham Deniz-Chavez of Irrigon, and 18-year-old Jordan Javary Torres of Umatilla were all arrested and lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on charges related to the shooting.
UCSO was assisted by the Umatilla Police Department, and the US Marshal’s. UCSO is also appreciative to the citizens that heard the shots, looked outside to see the suspect vehicle, and cooperated with the investigation. Without their help, this crime would likely have gone unsolved.
Although drive-by shootings by their very nature pose a threat to the safety of our citizens because of the reckless, unlawful behavior, the investigation shows this home was specifically targeted and not selected at random.
