PENDLETON — The vehicles for hire issue continues before the Pendleton City Council at tomorrow’s meeting at 7 p.m. Staff members had drafted a proposed ordinance that would allow services like Uber to operate while protecting Elite Taxi, which operates the city’s transit system and other transportation services.
“Uber advises that it would like to be able to offer its technology and service to the residents and visitors of Pendleton,” City Attorney Nancy Kerns reported. “However, the ordinance, as previously proposed, would not enable Uber to bring their services to this community.”
Kerns added that Uber is willing to participate in a conversation aimed at finding a policy which meets the mutual goals of the parties involved. The meeting in council chambers is also available via Zoom. The meeting ID is 848 8298 2122. The pass code is 248854.
