PENDLETON – The Delmar Aerospace Corporation of Las Vegas, Nevada is operating the Pendleton UAS Test Range Schoolhouse, which begins its third session of classes today (Monday). Chief Operating Officer Stanley Springer said the training program in the drone industry is a great asset for Pendleton’s young people.

“We’re building kids into better technicians, better for the workforce, available for other companies to do other things, including my own,” Springer said of the school.

Delmar was primarily a defense contractor, but is rapidly moving into commercial unmanned aircraft systems as well. Springer said Pendleton is a valuable partner in the company’s development of new technology.

“It looks like we’re going to be named one of the first test services center for an international global repairs center,” he said. “We’re going to have that at Pendleton. We’ll be employing more people like that, offering services to the companies here, and, frankly, bringing in more business.”

Springer said he is working with Blue Mountain Community College as it establishes a two-year course of study in unmanned aircraft systems.
