U.S. 395B has reopened, but is icy

LONG CREEK – UPDATE (9:24 a.m.) Grant County Emergency Communications has confirmed with our newsroom that U.S. Highway 395B is once again open in both directions between Long Creek and Nye. ODOT officials report that the highway is still extremely icy, and to use caution as you’re traveling.

PREVIOUSLY RELEASED (9:10 a.m.):  (From the Oregon Dept. of Transportation)

U.S. 395 is closed in both directions between milepost 23, at Nye Junction (OR 74), and milepost 90, at Long Creek. Closure is due to freezing rain, ice and low visibility. Opening is unknown at this time and dependent on weather conditions. Continue checking Tripcheck.com for current road conditions.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED (7:38 a.m.): HIGHWAY 395B REMAINS CLOSED BETWEEN LONG CREEK AND NYE CANYON. Oregon Department of Transportation staff are having difficulties with the TripCheck.com website, and have advised our newsroom the the route REMAINS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Stay posted and stay tuned for updates.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: (7:26 a.m.) The closure has been lifted, and U.S. 395B is open between Long Creek and Nye Canyon.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED: Oregon Department of Transportation officials have closed U.S. Highway 395B again this morning due to icy and unsafe conditions. At 1:27 a.m. the closure was issued between mileposts 90 and 23. That’s both lanes of the highway between Long Creek and Nye Canyon, just south of Pilot Rock. For the Southern Blue Mountains today, the National Weather Service is forecasting a slight chance of freezing rain with highs in the mid 30’s and lower 40’s.
