Two updates on fires in Harney County

HARNEY COUNTY-The Bad Water Fire, located on Drinkwater Pass in Harney County has burned 35 acres on BLM land. This incident was human caused, believed to have been started by a vehicle. Fire progression is no longer a concern and fire management reduced the incident complexity level.

Please use caution while driving in the area as resources will remain engaged for the next several days.

The Gumboot Fire, which was lighting, caused and burned a total of 39.5 acres on BLM land. This fire is 100% contained as of Tuesday, July 8, 2025.

More lightning is in the forecast for Wednesday, July 9, 2025, also, please help prevent human caused starts.
