BAKER COUNTY – A single vehicle rollover along I-84 west of Baker City ended with two individuals being transported out of the area by air ambulance recently. According to reports from Oregon State Police (OSP) in Baker County, after an unrelated traffic stop on another vehicle, an officer with OSP received reports of a single vehicle rollover near milepost 296 along I-84 eastbound. As the officer responded, he saw a cloud of dust from the crash on the westbound side of the freeway. As the officer arrived on scene, he observed a black Dodge Durango with rollover damage on its wheels off the right shoulder of the roadway.
An investigation revealed that the driver, 38-year-old Laura Dee Hardin, of Oregon City, showed signs of impairment. Hardin consented to a blood draw to check impairment.
Results of that blood draw were not noted in the press log information.
Both Hardin and a 56-year-old male passenger from Gresham, were transported by air ambulance, and vehicle was removed from the area and secured indoors.
