Two teens arrested for murder

KENNEWICK – Two suspects were arrested Tuesday in the April 28 murder of Ricardo Rivera, 17. On Monday, the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for the alleged crime of first-degree murder for Jacob Young Jr., 18, and a 15-year-old boy.

On Tuesday, the Kennewick Police Department, with assistance from the Benton County Sheriff’s Office and the Pasco Police Department, arrested the two suspects. Young was arrested at a residence in the 9100 block of West Arrowhead Avenue in Kennewick and the juvenile male was arrested at a residence in the 900 block of North Beech Avenue in Pasco.

On April 28 at 5:15 p.m., police responded to the 2100 block of North Rhode Island Court in Kennewick for a report of an assault with a weapon. Prior to officers arriving, witnesses advised multiple males were running from the location.

Upon their arrival, officers located Rivera with an apparent gunshot wound. Officers provided medical attention until the Kennewick Fire Department arrived and transported him to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased. Despite efforts to locate suspects, none were located the night Rivera was shot.

The investigation is ongoing.
