PASCO – Two people from Pasco were sustained serious injures early Tuesday morning. The Washington State Patrol was dispatched at 3:40 a.m. to a semi versus sedan collision on westbound U.S. 12 at Tank Farm Road.

The injured the driver and passenger of the sedan, Felipe M. Yacuta Bermudez (driver) and Kevin A. Arevalo Silva (passenger), both 18. Each of them was transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center.

WSP reports the semi, driven by Jim Lopez, 44, of Moxee, was eastbound on U.S. 12. The sedan was westbound. When the semi attempted to turn onto Tank Farm Road, it failed to yield the right of way to the sedan. The sedan struck the semi.

Lopez was not injured and WSP said the cause of the collision was failure to yield and that no drugs or alcohol were involved.
