STARKEY, OR – (Information provided by Oregon Department of Transportation) Oregon Department of Transportation reminds motorist on Highway 244, at Milepost 36 (between Red Bridge and Starkey) that blasting will take place Thursday. The Highway will be close for two hours between noon and 2:00 pm.
There is a second ODOT project on OR244 that began on Monday May 3rd at MP 42 near Bird Track Springs. This project will install a culvert intended to handle additional water during flood events to keep water from overtopping the highway in the vicinity of MP 42. As of Tuesday, May 4th, traffic will be restricted to a single lane to allow for the culvert to be constructed half at a time.
Flaggers will be controlling traffic 24/7 until the culvert is completely installed. The contractor expects to have the culvert installed and the highway back open to 2-lane traffic on or around May 12th. Please expect 10 to 20 minute delays. The single lane adjacent to the culvert excavation will be 16 feet wide and be gravel surfaced, so be cautious through the work zone.
