Two new police officers join Burns Police Department

BURNS (Released from Burns Police Department)-The Burns Police Department is proud to congratulate Jaycob Atencio and Karissa Willis on successfully completing Basic Police Training at the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST).
DPSST provides one of the most comprehensive and rigorous law enforcement training programs in the nation. Recruits complete extensive instruction in areas such as crisis response, de-escalation, defensive tactics, emergency vehicle operations, ethics, report writing, and community-oriented policing. Graduating from DPSST is a major accomplishment—and a testament to their dedication and professionalism.
Both recruits will begin Field Training today, where they will continue developing their skills alongside our experienced Burns Police Department Field Training Officers.
