PENDLETON – The Pendleton City Council holds its first meeting in July a week later than usual, due to the first Tuesday being July 4. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in council chambers of Pendleton City Hall.
The agenda is relatively light, but there are two items on the consent agenda that indicate a slight uptick in businesses opening their doors in the future. The city has received two applications for liquor licenses and Police Chief Chuck Byram has recommended both of them be approved.
One is for the former Southgate Mini Mart that will be called JC Custom Meats. In his report to the council, Byram said the new owner will conduct a business similar to that of the mini-mart and is basically seeking a transfer of the carry-out liquor license that was already in effect for the mini-mart.
The other is for a business that will be at 249 S. Main St. called Let ’er Axe. Axe throwing will be offered, and the liquor permit is for beer and wine to be consumed on the premises. In his recommendation for approval, Byram wrote that axe throwing has become a popular recreational activity.
The meeting at city hall is also available on Zoom. The meeting ID is 858 4160 1173 and the pass code is 731903.
