Two more full bridge closures planned for 2nd Street in La Grande

LA GRANDE – While no work has taken place this week on the 2nd Street Bridge over I-84 in La Grande, citizens are reminded to continue to use caution when crossing the bridge as there are some construction materials still on the shoulders and small bumps at each end of the bridge.
According to ODOT, “there is still a substantial amount of work to be done to complete the 2nd Street bridge repairs. There will be 2 more full bridge closures later this summer to accommodate the following activities: 1) Asphalt paving at each end of the bridge to match the new bridge deck overlay. This will likely be a 1 or 2 day closure. 2) Jacking of the bridge to allow for replacement of the bridge bearings. The jacks cannot safely accommodate vehicular traffic. This closure will likely be for 2 to 3 weeks. Neither closure will occur during the Union County Fair. We will send out advance notice for when these closures will occur. There will also be other activities that will be performed under flagger control.”
