WALLOWA COUNTY — Wallowa County Sheriff’s teamed up with the U.S. Forest Service after two males, age 17 and 19, were reported as possibly lost on the Snake River on Monday.
Sheriff Ryan Moody said they received the report from dispatch at around 7:30 p.m. that they were possibly lost near Dug Bar. Sheriffs met up with personnel from the U.S. Forest Service at Heller Bar to launch a river search.
Approximately 15 miles upriver the Forest Service encountered another boat whose occupants were relatives of the males reported missing. They said they had located the males and that they were safe.
“This incident is another example of the importance of coordination between law enforcement and partner agencies to help ensure public safety, even in the most remote areas,” said Moody in a statement.
