HERMISTON – Two Hermiston residents are charged with riot after allegedly beating up
two people at an adult soccer tournament at Sandstone Middle School Sunday. Police
Chief Jason Edmiston said that Andres Chales Lorenzo, 29, of 622 W. Orchard Ave.
and Rufino Ramirez, 19, of 368 E. Gladys Ave. are also charged with felony third-
degree assault and possession of forged documents.

Edmiston said the two along with three as-yet-unidentified men arrived at the
tournament and jumped two Hermiston residents. One of the victims was struck with a
glass bottle on the back of his neck and was treated by medics at the scene.

The suspects had left before police arrived. Witnesses helped identify Lorenzo and
Ramirez who were found and taken into custody. During the arrest they were found to
be in possession of counterfeit documents.

Rufino Ramirez does not have a criminal history in the local law enforcement system.
However, Andres Chales Lorenzo has been arrested 10 times with 40 citations,
predominantly by the Hermiston Police Department and the Umatilla County Sheriff’s
Office.
