SUMPTER – In honor of those who lost their lives in the 9/11 attack 20 years ago, Jace Svaty and Mike Downing, who both work with the Sumpter Valley Railroad and are members of the Powder River Rural Fire Department, spent time last weekend doing their railroad work while dressed in turn-out gear.
In addition to this show of support for the lives lost, during all four train rides last weekend of the Sumpter Valley Railroad, a Firefighter boot was passed around taking donations. A total of $1,000 was collected which was divided equally between the Powder River Rural Fire Department and the City of Sumpter Fire Department, both of which help with the railroad as well as the community of Sumpter Valley.
