Two juveniles cited for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree

BAKER CITY – (Release from the Baker City Police Department) On June 28, 2021, an officer was dispatched to a graffiti call behind the dollar tree in Baker City, Oregon.  The officer found spray paint had been used to vandalize the back wall of the store.  It is estimated that over $500.00 in damages and clean-up costs were done to the store.

On June 13, 2021, officers were able to identify two juvenile suspects responsible for the graffiti.  As a result, two male juveniles an eleven-year-old and twelve-year-old were cited into juvenile court for Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree (a class A misdemeanor).

Baker City Police have noted an uptick in graffiti around town.  Recently the Oregon Department of Transportation painted over graffiti that was throughout the pedestrian underpass on Dewey Street as it passes under the train tracks near South Baker Intermediate School.  That task took eleven gallons of paint, an air spray gun and 4 ODOT employees working about 4 hours to complete.

About a month ago two female juveniles, an eleven-year-old and twelve-year-old, were cited into juvenile court for Criminal Mischief in the First Degree for graffiti done in the park.

The Baker City Police Department would like to ask the public and businesses to be aware of this type of activity and report these types of incidents to the police.  We want to keep Baker City beautiful and clean for residents and visitors alike.

The Baker City Police Department does not publicly release names of juveniles involved in crimes.
