Two injured, one serious after stabbing on bus

HERMISTON – One person was airlifted to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with serious injuries after being stabbed during a fight on a bus headed westbound on Interstate 84 near the Morrow/Umatilla County line on Monday afternoon.

Oregon State Police Lieutenant Karl Farber said the fight occurred between two individuals on the bus, but that multiple people were involved because of close proximity. The aggressor in the fight was the one who was stabbed, another person was hit in the face and transported to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Hermiston.

Boardman Fire Rescue District had multiple units respond when the report of the incident came in at 4:06 p.m., they said when the first unit responded they immediately requested Life Flight.

Oregon State Police said Interstate 84 was briefly closed to assist law enforcement but was reopened shortly after.

The incident is under investigation. The Morrow County Sheriff’s office also assisted.
