OTHELLO – The Washington State Patrol reports two people, one from College Place and the other from Pasco, were injured in a three vehicle collision on State Route 17 at milepost 21, south of Othello, at 12:20 p.m. Friday.

Troopers said the accident happened when Kathleen A. Garcia, 36 of College Place was traveling northbound on SR-17 in a 2005 Honda CRV, crossed the centerline, and struck a 2024 Chevy Silverado pickup driven by Vicente M. Mendoza Jimenez, 42, of Pasco. Both vehicles were totaled. Garcia and Mendoza Jimenez were both injured and transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. Moments after the initial collision, another vehicle described by WSP as a Kenworth construction truck, struck Garcia. The driver of that vehicle, Larry Suarez, 60, of Othello was not injured.

According to WSP, neither drugs or alcohol were involved. Garcia has been charged with second-degree negligent driving.
