Two Huntington men arrested after altercation

HUNTINGTON – (Release from the Baker County Sheriff’s Office) On October 31, 2023 at approximately 10:13 p.m. Baker County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a report of a disturbance in Huntington. The reporting party, who was involved in the altercation, left the scene.

Upon arrival, Deputy Hansen met the reporting party, identified as Michael Joseph Carlsen (19 yoa), at the Huntington Fire Department where he was being medically evaluated for a possible minor injury sustained during the altercation. After interviewing Carlsen, Deputy Hansen, along with Oregon State Police Troopers, responded to the scene and met with the other involved party, Benjamin Harold Patterson (45 yoa). Patterson lives at the residence and is in a relationship with Carlsen’s mother. 

During the investigation, it was determined an argument between the parties occurred, which became physical when both parties pushed each other. This occurred in front of a minor.

Patterson was arrested and charged with Harassment. Carlsen was also arrested and charged with Harassment. Both parties were transported and lodged in the Baker County Jail. Baker County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Oregon State Police.
