JOHN DAY/CANYON CITY – According to a release from the Friends of Kam Wah Chung group, there will be a couple of days dedicated to archaeology in Grant County this week. Chelsea Rose from the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology will share findings from the Oregon Chinese Diaspora Projects’ five-plus years of research and archaeology at the Kam Wah Chung State Heritage Site tomorrow, July 10th, from 6pm-8pm. That will be held at the Canyon City Community Hall. Rose will introduce attendants to the John Day Chinatown community that once lived there.
Additionally, a Public Archaeology Day will be held at the Grant County Historical Museum on July 11th, from 12pm – 3pm.
