KENNEWICK – The Kennewick Police Department reports two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Fernando Pulido, 36, of Kennewick on Sept. 21.
Detectives have continued the investigation into Pulido’s murder and developed probable cause to arrest Lonny Barton-Owens, 29, of Richland. KPD worked with the Benton County Prosecutor’s Office and an arrest warrant for the alleged crime of second-degree murder was issued for Barton-Owens.
On Monday at 3:30 p.m., the U.S. Marshals Service located Barton-Owens in Pasco. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Benton County Jail on the murder warrant.
A female, Rebecca Chavez, 31, of Pasco was with Barton-Owens and was also taken into custody on Monday. She was booked into the Benton County Jail for the alleged crime of first-degree rendering criminal assistance.
On Sept. 21, KPD officers were dispatched to a residence on the 3700 block of West Fourth Avenue for an EMS assist. Dispatch was advised there was a person at that location who was unconscious. Pulido was found to have sustained a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he died the following day as a result of the gunshot wound.
