PENDLETON – Pendleton Police Department personnel have made two arrests in the alleged kidnapping and robbery at the Rugged Country Lodge Monday. Tyler Schachtsick, 32, and Whitney Ann Anderson, 26, were taken into custody at a residence in the 800 block of Northwest 11th Street Tuesday.
Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram stated in a prepared release that two suspects are still being sought in the case, but are not believed to be a risk to the general public.
The victim, a 30-year-old Pendleton resident said he was assaulted and robbed in a motel room Monday night. He reported that four suspects were involved in the incident. After the assault and robbery, the victim was transported to an area along Highway 37 and left there. The victim walked to a residence and emergency services were summoned.
Due to the violent nature of the alleged crimes, PPD SWAT was activated. Upon entering the residence, the two suspects were located in a bedroom and refused to surrender. When they were advised that K9 Bali was going to be deployed, the suspects surrendered without incident.
Both are charged with numerous felonies. Schachtsick’s bail is set at $587,500 and Anderson’s bond is $545,000. Police ask anyone with information pertinent to the case to call Umatilla County Dispatch at 541-966-3650 or the Pendleton Police Department at 541-276-4411.
