HARNEY COUNTY-It’s about time for the 2026 Tumbleweed Takedown. Burns Interagency Fire Zone will be gearing up to toast tumbleweeds along fence lines in Southern Harney County within the coming weeks… weather depending.
Burns Interagency Fire Zone would like community members to know that these rolling troublemakers spread hundreds of seeds every time they tumble, Tumbleweeds are highly flammable, which means major wildfire fuel. Tumbleweeds can damage crops by drying out the soil, spreading pests and disease and can also pile up and block wildlife movement routes.
