Training helps firefighters get ready in the event of an emergency

BAKER CITY – A-Shift Firefighters with Baker City Fire and Rescue worked on hose deployments recently along the Leo Adler Pathway.

According to information from the department, those involved wore breathing apparatus, which may be excessive for a brush fire, but allowed the firefighters to practice getting the hose deployed rapidly and give the firefighters an estimate of the length of hose and where their apparatus can reach easily.

The department notes that with the wonderful weather we have had recently, there is also an increase in traffic to recreational areas.  Citizens are reminded to “be vigilant while recreating, as you are the first line of defense to fires.

Report suspicious activity and fires in public areas as we work to keep Baker City safe.”
