Traffic will slow this week on I-84

LA GRANDE, OR – (Information provided by ODOT) A rolling slowdown EB starting at MP 171, west of Pendleton, will take place on Wednesday evening, May 12th to accommodate removal of the existing overhead Variable Message Sign (VMS) at MP 191.4 EB. Specific time TBD. A second rolling slowdown starting at the same location will take place later that evening to accommodate erection of the new VMS sign at MP 191.4 EB. A slow-lane closure will be in place at MP 191.4 EB Wednesday to allow room for the crane removing and replacing the VMS sign. EB On ramps for Exits 171, 178, 179, 180, 182, and 188 will be closed for up to 20 minutes during the rolling slowdowns.
The rolling slowdowns will result in very slow moving, congested traffic EB between MP 171 and MP 191.4 for a couple of short durations Wednesday evening. If you are driving through, please be aware of slow moving traffic and be prepared for a delay and substantial congestion.
