Traffic violation leads to arrest for weapons, drugs and more

BAKER CITY – Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted with a traffic stop the resulted in arrests for weapons, drugs and more.  According to information released from Oregon State Police in Baker County, they stopped a vehicle on Elm St. and Estes St. in Baker City for a traffic violation.  The front seat passenger was observed not wearing a seatbelt and verbally provided false identification.  Additionally, two warrants were confirmed fore the arrest of the front seat passenger.  Search of individual yielded the seizure of two unlawfully concealed handguns, methamphetamine (criminal) and suspected Fentanyl.  Additionally, a restricted weapon for a convicted felon was observed within the sab of the vehicle.  

The driver and rear passenger were detained. 

The rear seat passenger, a convicted felon consented to a search of their person.  A search yielded the seizure of a restricted weapon and methamphetamine (criminal). Search of the vehicle yielded a semi-automatic rifle, a taser, Heroin (criminal) and additional items of drug paraphernalia.  

The driver, 38-year-old Francisco Garcia Torres of Boardman, Oregon a convicted felon, was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by Felon, Possession of a Weapon by Felon and Possession of Heroin – 1G or More.  

The front seat passenger, 26-year-old Jefferson Eli Cole Sharp of La Grande, was arrested for Giving False Information to Police, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm X2, Possession of Methamphetamine -2 G or More and Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance.  Additionally, Sharp cited for Theft II and Parole and Probation Violation.

The rear sear passenger, 29-year-old Taylor Gordon Morris of La Grande, was cited and released for Possession of Weapon by Felon and Possession of Methamphetamine -2 G or More.  Torres and Sharp were lodged in the Baker County Jail.
