Traffic stop leads to drug and weapon arrests

LA GRANDE – On Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at approximately 1:09 P.M, an Oregon State Police Lieutenant observed a vehicle traveling on Interstate 84 west bound in Union County, Oregon. The vehicle was stopped for multiple traffic infractions and upon contact with the driver and passenger reasonable suspicion of criminal activity was observed. 

OSP K-9 Ore alerted to the vehicle and a search revealed a commercial quantity of methamphetamine, scales, packaging material, paraphernalia, U.S. Currency, prohibited weapons for a felon and a stolen 9mm pistol. As a result, the driver and passenger were arrested. 

The investigation is continuing by OSP Drug Enforcement Section Detectives with the HIDTA Interdiction Team (HIT).
