PENDLETON – Pendleton Police Chief Chuck Byram reminds people to be alert as more people are leaving their homes and heading for stores, shops, and events. He asks people to stay alert, because in the Round-Up City there’s not enough attention paid to the rules of the road.

“No matter what’s going on – people not parking where they need to be parking, people not obeying the crosswalk or traffic signals – I mean this town is notorious for it. It’s one of those things that’s been allowed to happen for so long that it’s almost like a culture.”

The addition of Byrd e-scooters to the streets of Pendleton make Byram even more concerned.

“We are still out there actively policing the scooters,” he said. “We’re making sure that they have helmets and that they’re off the sidewalks and in the street, but it’s never going to stop. People are going to continue to do it.”
