Traffic Over Hells Canyon Dam Will Be Restricted to One Lane Starting Monday

OXBOW, OR – (Release provided by Idaho Power) The road over Hells Canyon Dam will be limited to a single lane of traffic, starting Monday, Aug. 9. The restriction will be in place Monday through Thursday for 2-3 weeks while Idaho Power installs new equipment on the dam.

Traffic flaggers will be present, and brief delays are possible while equipment is being moved. Drivers are asked to use extra caution when approaching or crossing the dam.

Located 21 miles downstream of Oxbow Dam, Hells Canyon Dam is the third and last project in the Hells Canyon Project. It began generating electricity in 1967 and has a nameplate generating capacity of 391.5 megawatts.
