TOUCHET – Salt levels in the Touchet School District’s drinking water system are back to normal after salt was prematurely added to the water.
The district learned Monday afternoon that a recent power outage caused a reset of the scheduled regeneration process in the new water system used to purify the district’s drinking water. Due to the disruption in the system’s timing, the regeneration occurred sooner than expected, leading to a slightly salty taste in the water.
“Our operations personnel have worked diligently to monitor the water and making sure it is at safe levels for drinking,” Superintendent Robert Elizondo said.
Now that the system has had time to property refresh, Elizondo said the salt levels in the water are back to normal.
