PENDLETON – Mary Wells is turning her passion into a career. Today (Thursday) is her first day on the job as the recreation supervisor for Pendleton Parks and Recreation.

“She has worked for us previously in a seasonal capacity as the swimming lessons coordinator,” Director Liam Hughes said. “We are very excited to have her join the team.”

Wells is secretary for SPLASH Pendleton (Swimming Pools for Life, Activity, Safety, and Health). She along with other volunteers are working to secure the resources to build a pool that can be used year-round for recreation, therapy, and competitive sports.

“The value of pools and how much they can contribute to a community in terms of health and fitness is significant,” she said in an earlier interview with Elkhorn Media Group.

She will now manage the Pendleton Aquatic Center during the summer and will also manage the ice-skating rink during the winter months. Jon Bullard is the recreation supervisor who manages the youth recreation programs, gym, youth sports, afterschool program, and summer youth camps.
