Tips to stop mail/package thefts

LA GRANDE – Last month the La Grande Police Department reported a rash of mail thefts, which lead to the arrest of two individuals in La Grande.  While mail thefts or reports of attempted mail thefts since that arrest are very low there is never a bad time to remind citizens of things, they can do to keep their mail and packages out of the hands of thieves. 

A few helpful tips include: 

•Shipping packages to your work

•Enlisting a neighbor’s help to collect your package 

•Requiring a signature

•Install home security camera systems, like Ring

•Removing your mail often from unsecured mailboxes

If you see something suspicious in regard to mail theft or packages thefts and are able, get a good description of the subject/s and their vehicle (if there is one) and report it to the police right away.
