PENDLETON – It’s Tough Enough to Wear Pink day at the Pendleton Round-Up. The local fundraiser for survivors of cancer will have a booth at the Round-Up Grounds and be honored before the rodeo starts at 1:15 p.m.
Before the rodeo starts, Roy Raley Park will be filled with beautiful young girls. The Junior American Indian Pageant begins at 10 a.m.
Saddle bronc and bull rider Butch Knowles of Heppner has played a pivotal role in the grass arena for decades, and he is now a member of the Round-Up and Happy Canyon Hall of Fame. He remembers his first trip as a competitor in 1974, when he was just out of high school.
“It’s on everybody’s bucket list from the time you’re a little kid dreaming about rodeoing until you get to this point,” he said. It’s been a great ride. It really has.”
