Three wolf depredations confirmed for Wallowa in early May

WALLOWA COUNTY – Since the beginning of May, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has confirmed three additional wolf depredations for Wallowa County. The first of these was initially investigated on May 1, and occurred on a 350-acre private land pasture in the Crow Creek area, resulting in a single dead 3-month-old calf. It is estimated the event took place around 48 hours prior to investigation, with wolves in the Crow Creek area being confirmed responsible.

The second reported depredation was initially investigated on May 6 and occurred on a public land allotment in the Crow Creek Area, also resulting in a single dead 3-month-old calf. The event is estimated to have occurred less than 24 hours prior to investigation, again with wolves in the Crow Creek area being confirmed responsible.

The final depredation confirmed thus far was investigated on May 9 and occurred on a 3-acre private land pasture in the Sherrod Road area, resulting in a single dead yearling goat. The event is estimated to have occurred less than 24 hours prior to investigation, with the Bear Creek Pack being confirmed responsible.
