EASTERN OREGON – The Oregon Community Foundation recently posted the results of its 2024 Thriving Entrepreneurs Grants. In total, 39 organizations across the state received a combined $907,500 worth of grants this year. For the easternmost portions of the state specifically, (Union, Baker, Wallowa and Malheur Counties) four organizations received a combined $74,900 worth of 2024 grants.
The first of these organizations is Micro Enterprise Resource Initiatives & Training, with assets in Malheur, Marion, Polk, Umatilla, and Yamhill counties. Micro Enterprise received $25,000 for its “Community Wealth Building through Lending Circles” project. The grant will go, as described in the Oregon Community Foundation.
“To support a Loan Officer position that will support lending circles to offer interest free loans that will increase credit scores.”
The second grant, also worth $25,000, went to the Northeast Oregon Economic Development District, which covers Baker, Union and Wallowa Counties. The grant will go toward the NEOEDD Thriving Rural Entrepreneurship project, “to help improve outreach, increase delivery of classes, and expand hours for one-on-one coaching”
The final grant specific to Eastern Oregon, worth $24,900, went to the Rural Engagement and Vitality Center, which covers numerous counties, including Baker, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa. The grant will go toward the Frontier Oregon Regional Innovation Hub, “to support entrepreneurs.”
