KENNEWICK – Three people are confirmed dead following a SWAT standoff in Kennewick. The bodies were found Tuesday afternoon and have been identified by the Kennewick Police Department.

KPD Public Information Officer Commander Aaron Clem said as a result of a missing person’s report, the Kennewick Police Department Investigations Division developed information on Monday which appeared to be suspicious. Based on that information, investigators applied for, and were granted, a search warrant for the missing person’s residence in the 2800 block of South Dawes Street in Kennewick.

Investigators believed the missing person’s adult son, Zuhaid Mohamed, 26, would be in the residence at the time of the search warrant so, for the safety of everyone involved, the Tri-City Regional SWAT Team was activated to safely secure the residence. Prior to attempting to make contact with the residence on this morning (Tuesday), KPD worked with its partners at the Kennewick School District to lock down both Chinook Middle School and Southridge High School to ensure the safety of the students and staff.

Clem said throughout the morning, the SWAT team worked to safely secure the residence. At about 12:45 p.m., the SWAT team was able to enter the residence where they located both previously identified missing persons, identified as Nabil Mohamed, 65, and Hifza Kahn, 63, as well as Zuhaid Mohamed, all deceased.
