WALLA WALLA – The trial for Charles Thompkins Jr., 65, of Pendleton, who faces multiple charges for his alleged involvement in organizing a group attack in Walla Walla in July 2021, will not begin today (Monday) as originally planned.

Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney Gabe Acosta said Thompkins’ stand-by attorney contacted Acosta last Thursday about a speedy trial waiver, which Acosta agreed to.

A new trial date has not been set yet as Acosta said Thompkins’ motion to dismiss all charges against him without prejudice has not been officially resolved. Acosta said there have been ongoing discussions among the parties.

Thompkins allegedly organized the group attack claiming the people in Walla Walla stole a vehicle from him. Thompkins pleaded not guilty to the charges.
