HERMISTON – The Hermiston School District is excited to take up occupancy of Amazon Web Service’s Think Big Space. Superintendent Tricia Mooney said they already have the keys. The space is divided into two parts.

“There’s a part that will serve our elementary students on a rotational basis, and there’s another side that will be a progression of classes from the high school,” Mooney said.

Mooney said the elementary students and high school students will both get hands-on experience with a variety of technologies.

“It’s a way for kids to learn and interact with technology and solve problems,” Mooney said.

Hermiston High School teacher John Fisher, who teaches engineering and robotics, will work out of the Think Big Space, she said. There are Think Big Spaces throughout the world. Amazon Web Services states they are being created to help students develop interest in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math.
